'SEA OF TREES' VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF2dXPGoRYE

Grey Lantern are delighted to be welcoming back Bristol noise rock four-piece Spectres, who’ll be bringing their abrasive shoegaze-influenced guitar detritus to Gullivers in support of their debut LP Dying, out on Sonic Cathedral.

The group certainly find influences in all the best places: first album My Bloody Valentine, ‘Sister’-era Sonic Youth, the Loop of ‘Heaven’s End’, Swervedriver’s Creation-days desert-gaze, A Place To Bury Strangers’ total sonic annihilation and Royal Trux’s squalid noise on ‘Twin Infinitives’ to name just a few.

Dying opens with the ominous and unsettling white noise and dark found sounds of ‘Drag’ and is unrelenting for the next 50 minutes, taking in new single ‘Where Flies Sleep’ (which has already found its way onto BBC Radio 1), a re-recorded version of ‘The Sky Of All Places’, originally released early in 2014 as part of the Too Pure Singles Club, and ‘Sea Of Trees’, which was given away as a free download to attendees of Sonic Cathedral’s recent 10th anniversary show at the 100 Club in London.

Spectres were formed in Barnstaple, North Devon about four years ago, but after a few months of playing to people who wanted white reggae rather than white noise, they decided to move to Bristol. “Forming in Barnstaple was integral to what we are today,” explains singer/guitarist Joe Hatt. “When people hated us we just played harder. We want to snap people out of their comfort zones. We want our noise to smack the spoon out of their mouths that is feeding them the warm diarrhoea that is served by start-up PR companies. We want people to have to notice and have to react, not look at their phones or talk their friend who is looking at their phone.”

Heading out on the road with Spectres are the Bristolians Howling Owl Records brethren The Naturals, who cut through the line between industrial, noise rock and post-punk with a ruddy great chainsaw.

Opening up we have TVAM, who brings his 80's VHS-inspired warped punk rock to a Grey Lantern stage for the first time!
