She tore up post-punk London with her anarchic, multi-ethnic, multi-genre music in the 80s, and cemented her counter-culture aesthetic and cult-figure status in the 90s. Now, Neneh Cherry returns with the bold and provocative Blank Project, her first solo album in 17 years.
Combining beat poetry, avant-electronica and beautiful vocal melodies, she effortlessly traverses pop, tough techno, hypermodern rhythms and hip hop. As always, Cherry’s soul-flooded vocals are raw and disarming.
Joined on stage by her collaborators RocketNumberNine+, Cherry delivers an urgent performance, her energy palpable. This promises to be a feverish live show, a visceral experience.
