Epithets are a band from Melbourne and Brisbane, Australia. This will be our first and only show for 2013, and precedes the release of our new album, recorded by Casey Rice (Dirty Three, Tortoise, Sunny Day Real Estate) and mastered by Roger Seibel (Sleater Kinney, Modest Mouse, Death Cab For Cutie.) With two members now residing out of town, we are extremely eager to have a chance at showing you what we've been up to.
We're just as excited to have Bigstrongbrute along for what will also be his first Australian show this year. After a year spent abroad, during which time he was longlisted for the Australian Music Prize for his triumphant Avalanche Of Truth LP, he has been laying low and keeping quiet. Our persistence has paid off, however, and he will be joining us for a solo set.
Additionally, we have invited along two of our very favourite Brisbane bands.
J. Francis are a dream-pop band for fans of Washed Out, The Radio Dept. and Wild Nothing. Based around the genius recorded songs of Julian Pearce, the 5-piece live band is fleshed out by alumni of such stalwart bands as To The North, Rialto Decibel Choir and Epithets.
And, to open the night in truly monumental fashion, the band O. An utterly overwhelming mix of black metal, shoegaze and sheer visceral force, this is a band so pure and direct in impact that witnessing it for one's self is essential.
