Following our free shindig at C.A.M.P. in March we’re slinking up Kingsland Road to Visions Video Bar, and bringing with us a figure so legendary he makes King Arthur and Hercules gaze bashfully at the ground and scuff their shoes through an awkward sense of fraudulence…

LUKE VIBERT has notched up a career spanning almost 20 years now, and even after all that time you’d still be doing well to accurately peg down his sound. Negotiating his way through hip-hop, trip-hop, idm, d’n’b, and pretty much every genre that could conceivably be prefixed with ‘acid…’, and gracing any seminal electronic label worth its salt (Ninja Tune, Rephlex, Planet Mu, Warp, etc) along the way, Vibert has long-since cemented his status as a true icon of electronic music. With the release of the stellar ‘Toomorrow’ LP under his Wagon Christ guise for Ninja Tune just last year proving that dropping off in quality is very much for lesser beings than he, we are delighted to be hosting his kaleidoscopic talents for an extended two-hour set in a venue as intimate as Visions.

As if we weren’t already excited enough, it is our great pleasure to welcome Cardiff’s DARKHOUSE FAM to the bill as well. Having released EPs through the continually class Manchester label Fat City as well as London’s premier beat-mongers Earnest Endeavours, they can list The Gaslamp Killer, Mary Anne Hobbs and Gilles Peterson (to name but a very few) as fam friends, and are without a doubt one of the UK’s hottest prospects. Prime selectors on the 1s and 2s as well as killer producers, what these two don’t know about DJing either isn’t worth knowing, or comprises the prelude to ‘David Guetta’s Pocketbook Guide To Getting A Party Started’.

As we’ve made the move to E8 we thought we’d invite along one of the area’s musical figureheads – NIC TASKER. ‘Hours of bliss’ is a pretty irrelevant phrase until you’ve trawled through the recordings catalogue of his NTS Radio show, in which sublime selection and slick mixing sit together so well that you’ll be left feeling sheepish that two hours of your life have just slipped by and you’re still gazing at the same incontinence treatment advert having travelled from Morden to High Barnet fourteen times.

BAD TASTE RECORDS’ own DOCTOR JEEP and label co-founder DARKSTORM complete the line-up, and will be sure to serve up a frothy and delicious stew of hip-hop, garage, house, and probably some “UK Bass”, whatever that is. This will be one of the last opportunities to catch the good Doctor on these shores as he returns to his native NYC later this summer, and trust us; you’ll be kicking yourself if you miss him. Darkstorm on the other hand is very much here to stay, so if you don’t already – get to know.
