Sun 16 Sep – Fall Ball
For those who don't know yet, I saw the Smashing Pumpkins in Tucscon Arizona on Sunday Sept 16th, and in the process got utterly drenched in a freak thunderstorm. Well, it wasn't really a thunderstorm...but it was a freak! There was just no thunder. There was a lot of lightning and rain though. And by 'freak', I mean it was quite unexpected, in spite of the fact that I'd been admiring the clouds in the Arizona skies for most of the day. They just hadn't looked all that ominous. More like puffy and fluffy and glorious!
And to think I had been worried that I'd face even hotter temperatures down south than I'd endured in Phoenix! In actual fact it turned out to be cooler (even before the sun went down) down there.
The rain happened to set in about 5 songs into the Pumpkins' set, and they had to stop playing and cover Jimmy's drumkit with a massive piece of plastic. …
