I think it'd be hard to capture the same magic as that first UK gig again. This gig was totally amazing in it's own right, better than most gigs I have been to. at locations in the venue the drums did sound too loud, but I moved after the first song and the sound was alot more balanced.

Aesop is very much loose around the edges. Not to everyone's taste but it's part of what made Marrow such a great record and I think the looser tempos are what made some of the bigger moments all the more powerful. Into The Painted Grey was the best song by far for me.

Agree with you atomsmasher. I felt the drumming was inconsistent - double bass drum beats does not equal an increased tempo, and several of the drum fills were very awkward and far inferior to those on the studio recordings. I think the reason for the messed up timing was also because the drummer screwed up (anyone else notice Don turn around and look bemusedly at the drummer towards the start of Limbs?) Also, I'm not a big fan of their latest record to be honest, so the setlist wasn't really to my taste... ...but I still thought they put on a great performance overall and I'm really glad I got to see them again!

Am I the only person who thought it wasn't that great compared to their first UK show at the Underworld back in 09'? Drums were too loud, vocals too soft and the guitarist fucked up several riffs (got the timing wrong). Very glad they played Kneel to the Cross though, their cover is fantastic and getting the guy from Sol Invictus to make a guest appearance was a real treat. Fen were good as usual and I was pleasantly surprised by Velnias who I hadn't heard before.

actually, count me as a third that thought they were going to play fire above, ice below at one point too. i thought i heard them start the intro.

I thought the extra chords before Bloodbirds were just the last bit of Fortress I used as an extended intro for it

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought so, I guess it was some sort of "easter egg" in the setlist.

I thought I heard a snippet of Fire Above as well actually! No Our Fortress Is Burning I though

Bloodbirds!!! Amazing... Would have been better with a better sound but cannot complain...

I thought it was: Into the Painted Grey, Falling Snow, The Watcher's Monolith, Limbs ; Fire Above, Ice Below (just the first few chords before moving to the next song), Our Fortress is Burning (I think it was a condensed version of the three parts, because they even did the noisy third part), Hallways of Enchanted Ebony, Dead Winter Days, In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion, Kneel to the Cross

Bit sad they didn't play Odal like they did on the other dates, but I am SO DAMN HAPPY they played all of In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion at normal speed, as they sped up the middle part last time! so so amazing. Also very glad they played Falling Snow as it was missing from the 2009 setlist :) in all a totally amazing gig.

I'm pretty certain Of Stone, Wing and Pillor wasn't played.

Also, anyone know the setlist played by Velnias? I'm not familiar enough with their stuff but I found them quite enchanting.

Ah, that was me. I swear they played it, but now you have me thinking I was either dreaming or that I am misremembering, haha.

That's how I remember it too

I'm pretty sure they didn't. As I remember the first portion of the set was purely alternation between Marrow and Ashes songs.

Did Agalloch play Of Stone Wind and Pillor!? It's on most of the setlists and someone's put it in for London on setlist fm but I literally have no memory of them playing it.
